Text Box: Discovery Club is funded by the Mass Department of Elementary and Secondary Education through a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant. Text Box: October was a great month for visiting local farms. ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS This year Silver Hill and Tilton visited Cider Hill Farm for apple picking, maze fun, and a wagon ride. Golden Hill’s trip had to be canceled due to rain on their scheduled date and their rain date. Students were treated to a special ice-cream party to make up for their disappointment. Discovery Club was only open for one week at Text Box: Pentucket Lake, at the time of these field trips, so was not scheduled to participate. MIDDLE SCHOOLS Middle School students (Nettle, Whittier, & Consentino) made a return visit to Kimball’s Llama farm in the Rock’s Village section of Haverhill to work their way through this year’s corn maze! The afternoon was a bit brisk, but the sun was shining and the students and staff all enjoyed a diversion from the usual afternoon routine. Although the maze was more complicated this year, we are happy to report we didn’t leave anyone behind! Text Box: Text Box: Special points of interest: Discovery Club is online! Keep Us Updated!! Students are involved in the 7th Annual Festival of Trees at the Haverhill Historical Society. Text Box: Consentino Text Box: Students attending Consentino’s Discovery Club program are enjoying a variety of programming this session. Mrs. Legault is helping students to “Go Green” and will team up with Mrs. Mooradian and her students to help make Text Box: life more enjoyable for animals in our community this Holiday Season. Adventure Programming is in full swing and twice weekly field trips to Nettle School’s climbing wall have begun. Mr. Parolisi and his students have been having fun conducting experiments on Monday & Text Box: Wednesday afternoons during Super Science! Students are using science kits to encounter a variety of hands-on activities, such as: dissecting owl pellets, electric currents, and the baby diaper secret! Cooking, Greenhouse, Team Sports, Entrepreneurship, and Computer Lab round out this sessions offerings.
